Let’s talk Family Holiday Photoshoots.
Are you considering doing a family holiday photoshoot? Here’s my biggest tip as to when to book your session: Don’t wait until November or December to book your family session. Even October might be kind of late in the game. As a family photographer, I would love nothing more than to photograph everyone’s family holiday photoshoot, but I’m often unable to when families inquire at the start of the holiday season.
Typically, I photograph all of my holiday family sessions from September to October, which means that they were booked between August to September.
Remember that the sooner you book, the better because it leaves you with time to reschedule your session if you need to. Reschedules with family photos are my most common reschedules. You never know when a little one is going to get sick or have a haircut go wrong (true story! lol).
What to wear for your family holiday photoshoot?
The most popular question for any type of photoshoot… but what do we wear? Neutral colors will always photograph best. My biggest tip for this is to coordinate your outfits rather than matching everything perfectly. This family coordinated blues and yellows perfectly for their Holiday photos!
Toddlers?
An hour photoshoot is a long time for a toddler to cooperate. Bring snacks and have their favorite songs ready on your phone to play when they start to get upset. Baby Shark song and dance all the way! My biggest tip is to try your best to get them to nap before the session. It makes for happy babies!
Mom and Dad Shots are Important too!
