What to Trust your Photographer with on your Wedding Day | Part 2

Trust your photographer with posing and editing photos

Hello and WELCOME to part 2 of this three-part series of what to trust your photographer with on your wedding day! In addition to part 1, we will be talking about posing, editing photos, and making family photos on your wedding day less stressful! Check out Part 1 of this series here!

Planning a wedding is stressful enough so why not let me help make your wedding day a little less stressful! This is a 3 part series of exactly what to trust your photographer to handle and execute before your wedding day, on your wedding day, and even after your wedding day!

We will be continuing our series today by talking about posing, editing your photos, and your family’s formal photos on the wedding day.

Trusting your photographer a little more in these main areas will not only result in better images but will also relieve you of some stress as well. Having that said, let’s jump right back into it…

Posing

Trust your photographer to know what pose is the most flattering for you. They can see how the light is illuminating you and what is in the background. Most times you’ll be working with limited time and light and you don’t want to waste much of either on your big day.

In fact, that is why your engagement session is so important! I make it a point to learn what poses are the most flattering for you two as a couple. It’s not a “one size fits all” kind of thing. Talking about engagement sessions, check out this recent post I wrote on what to wear for your engagement photos!

However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t share some of your favorite poses with me… or your wedding photographer. Which hopefully is me! 😉 … but what I am saying is that not all poses are flattering and it’s your photographer’s job to be able to know what is the most flattering for YOU!

Editing your Wedding Photos

Editing… what I get the most questions about! When you hire a wedding photographer, part of that is because you love their style of work. If you hire me, for example, then you know your wedding photographs will have a clean and classic edit. A style of editing that will be beautiful forever. Even when editing styles change, as they often do in the photography industry.

Trust your photographer’s creative eye during the editing process. They will know which images will look best in black and white, color, cropped, and which ones need color correcting, if any. Part of the editing process is a part of our style and this is one of the reasons you hired them. Trust them to use their skills to make each image stunning.

Fun fact: most of my editing decisions are made in camera and not on the computer 😉

Family Photos on your Wedding Day

Family photos on your wedding day

In my experience from photographing weddings the last eight years, the most stressful part of the day is often family portraits. To clarify, I’m not saying that family is stressful. Kinda, lol!

Family photos on your wedding day can be stressful for a few reasons. Oftentimes there are several family members who request photos, suggest photos, confusion, chaos trying to gather everyone, etc. However, I have a great method to capture your family photos in a timely manner without missing a single image!

Family photos don’t have to be chaotic. They also don’t have to be stressed. I make it a point to make to try and make this part of your day as least stressful as possible.

Prior to your wedding day, I schedule a time to chat about your family list. I ask several questions and organize your list in a way that makes it organized and a lot less stressful. I make sure that we have everyone we need when we start family photos, therefore it makes everything a breeze!
