Location #1: The City
… here in Southern California, the big city locations are typically going to be Downtown Los Angeles and Downtown San Diego. However, you’re not limited to those locations! There are various fun locations in between LA and SD that have a “big city/downtown” feel to them!

Location #2: The Beach
This one feels like an obvious one to me… we’re in Southern California y’all! When it comes to locations for engagement photos, this one tends to be at the top of the list *very* often. For a good reason, our beaches are gorgeous! They always make my photographer heart happy!
In Southern California, you have several options from the Malibu area all the way to the cliffs of San Diego! It’s a romantic and dreamy spot for any engaged couple thinking of engagement photos!

Location #3: The Desert
Most people don’t stop to consider the desert when they are thinking of locations for engagement photos. I get it! What can be so great about photos in the desert… well, let me tell you! EVERYTHING!!!! The deserts of Southern California are gorgeous. Truly. Take Joshua Tree, for example, it’s a stunning vast area of desert, and it makes for gorgeous photos!

Location # 4: A Historic College Campus
Not very many people consider having engagement photos done on a college campus unless they attended the school. I’m here to tell you to break that train of thought. Historic college campuses are a gold mine! Large historic and beautiful architecture, variety in locations, and my favorite… elegant! So, of course, I had to include it in this list of locations!

Location #5: Open Fields
Engagement sessions in open fields are probably my most requested location. For a good reason! They are magical. Especially in the springtime! On the other hand, if you struggle with allergies, maybe don’t schedule it during the spring and wait for winter, lol!

Okay, I know what you’re thinking… an engagement session AT HOME?!?

Honestly, what doesn’t Southern California have to offer when it comes to choosing a location for your engagement photos?! If you would like photos with an EPIC view, consider having a session near one of the several amazing overlook locations that California has to offer! Both the beach and the mountains offer this. The mountainous areas of SoCal are stunning!
